Wellbeing & Mindfulness
Wellbeing - is a complex combination of a persons overall physical, mental, emotional & social health and how a person feels about themselves and their life.
Mindfulness – Living in the present moment and the awareness of one’s internal states and surroundings.
It is the ability to be present in the moment, not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. It is being aware of what is happening in the here & now and not letting our thoughts & feelings overwhelm us but instead using them to guide us. Mindfulness helps achieve clarity & direction.
Practicing mindfulness can help to calm busy, stressed minds prone to overthinking. Being mindful helps to keep a person in the present moment and aware of their own thoughts, feelings & emotions. This can improve their overall wellbeing, it also helps in making conscious decisions with more clarity.
Mindfulness can be achieved by channelling our focus into activities that are calming/ relaxing/ creative/ stimulating but most importantly that bring you joy/ peace/a sense of achievement. Activities that can support mindfulness include- exercise/learning/meditation/arts & crafts.
It is important that we all take time for ourselves to reset & rejuvenate to ensure that we have a healthy body, mind & soul.
Mindfulness can help the:
Body - with physical problems such as hypertension, heart disease & chronic pain. It can also improve sleep and lower blood pressure.
Mind - with stress, anxiety, depression and overthinking. It helps to clear a ‘foggy’ mind.
Soul - by boosting self-esteem, self-worth and enthusiasm for life. It can also help to improve relationships with others.
